On April 21 and 22, 2026, the School of International Education Center (SIE) – Thuyloi University became an inspiring intellectual destination by successfully organizing a series of high-level professional workshops featuring world-leading speakers. This is part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to improve academic quality, promote scientific research, and innovate foreign language teaching methods according to international standards. The events attracted not only a large number of SIE lecturers but also many colleagues from prestigious universities and institutes, such as Hung Yen University of Technology and Education, University of Commerce, Academy of Education Management, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Academy of Policy and Development, Youth Academy of Vietnam, University of Culture, University of Natural Resources and Environment, and National University of Art Education.

Opening the series on April 21 was a workshop on a highly topical subject for the academic community: “How to publish in high-impact journals.” The speaker was Prof. Thang Siew-Ming – President of PacCall and Editor of the Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) journal, a prestigious Q1-Scopus indexed publication. With extensive experience in editing and reviewing, Prof. Thang Siew-Ming provided practical insights into the rigorous review processes of international journals. Participants gained extremely useful information, ranging from defining research objectives and manuscript writing skills to strategies for responding to reviewer comments to secure a publication spot in the world’s most reputable academic forums.

Continuing the success, on April 22, the hall continued to buzz with the presence of a prominent figure in global language education: Prof. Rod Ellis (from Curtin University, Australia, and the University of Auckland, New Zealand). With the demeanor of a respected teacher and profound expertise, the Professor guided lecturers deep into the Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) method. This is a modern teaching approach that is learner-centered and emphasizes the use of language in various contexts. Through Prof. Rod Ellis’s insights, the faculty spent a productive day discussing and practicing how to design effective learning tasks to stimulate student autonomy and communication skills in the language classroom.

The workshop series concluded with positive feedback and satisfaction from all participants. Connecting with world-class experts at the International Education Center not only affirms SIE’s position and prestige in the educational community but also opens up opportunities for deep academic exchange and cooperation in the future. The valuable knowledge on scientific research and teaching methodology shared over these two days will undoubtedly serve as an essential foundation, helping the faculty continuously improve themselves, thereby enhancing the training and research quality of the University in the context of strong international integration today.
