On the afternoon of May 29, 2026, Thuy Loi University held a working session with Mr. Bastian N. Chacko, Deputy Chief of Mission and Representative of the Embassy of India in Hanoi, to discuss specific cooperative orientations in the fields of training, scientific research, human resource development, and cultural exchange. The meeting opened up many new opportunities for cooperation, contributing to promoting the internationalization of education and enhancing the University’s position in the international cooperation network.
Prior to this, Thuy Loi University and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre under the Embassy of India had held meetings and exchanges on October 15, 2025, and December 8, 2025, with Dr. Monica Sharma – Director of the Centre. Through these working sessions, the two sides agreed on many important cooperative contents, including the plan to formulate and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to serve as a foundation for implementing long-term joint programs.
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Canh Thai emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Embassy of India is highly important to support the University in inviting visiting professors, specialized lecturers, and English language lecturers to participate in teaching a number of the University’s advanced training programs (Water Resources Engineering, Construction Engineering, and English Language) with financial support from the Government of India; and to develop a 2-week short-term program for Thuy Loi University’s managerial staff. At the same time, the two sides also agreed to promote exchange activities introducing Indian culture and Hindi, as well as cultural exchange programs for students to enhance understanding and connection between the young generations of the two countries.

Mr. Bastian N. Chacko, Deputy Chief of Mission and Representative of the Embassy of India in Hanoi, expressed interest in establishing an “India Corner” at the Thuy Loi University Library. This will be an academic and cultural space for students and lecturers to access rich resource materials on India’s history, culture, education, science, and technology, contributing to expanding a multicultural learning environment within the University.
In addition, the Embassy of India will continue to support the promotion of Indian Government scholarship programs to the University’s students and lecturers; coordinate the organization of international scientific conferences, specialized seminars, cultural days, and academic exchange activities to strengthen educational cooperation between the two nations. The two sides also discussed the possibility of organizing short-term training courses of 1–2 weeks in India for the University’s managerial and administrative staff, contributing to enhancing university governance capacity, strengthening practical experience, and fostering international integration.

The working session took place in an open and friendly atmosphere, achieving high consensus on the cooperative contents in the coming time. The results achieved not only contribute to expanding the cooperative relationship between Thuy Loi University and the Embassy of India but also create more opportunities for study, research, and international exchange for the University’s staff, lecturers, and students, towards the goals of sustainable development and deep integration with regional and global education.
